The Boys’ Brigade
2018/19 has been a successful 70th year for the Company. We started the year with a good number of boys and have steadily increased our membership numbers. We were recognised by the Boys’ Brigade nationally for growing the size of our Company. We also welcomed two new Officers.
The Company has taken part in Battalion competitions which bring together BB companies from all over West Lothian. Our Junior Section won 1st place in the 5 aside football and 3rd place in the handball competitions and the Company Section won 1st place in the Orienteering competition.
We are thankful for the support we received from our Church elders who have taught the Company Section spiritual class every Thursday evening and from parents who help us to transport boys, or coach them for competitions, or help in the Company.
4 young men who have gained the highest award than can be gained in the Boys’ Brigade, the Queens Badge. This is the culmination of 2 years hard work in Company and Community Service and developing personal interests.
As the Company continues to grow our challenge is not only about attracting or keeping boys coming along but that we need additional staff to help on Thursday evenings. If you have some time and would like to find out more about the Company, please speak to me or a member of the staff and we would be happy to talk through the opportunity to support the Company.
